Last week another edition of FITUR – Feria Internacional del Turismo took place in Madrid, one of the main tourism events of the year on a global scale, as proven by the more than 250,000 visitors it received.
In addition to the strong Portuguese presence and the business done, there were two events parallel to the fair that deserve a special mention: the attribution, by the World Tourism Organization (UNTWO), of the award “Innovation in Public Policies and Administration” to the Tourism of Portugal, for the project dedicated to the training in tourism TTT – Tourism Training Talent; and, the conquest, by the national company “Mobinteg”, of the award attributed by FITUR for “Best International Tourism App”, in the category “Tourist Guide” to the application “SMIITY” (Smart Interactive cITY).
Naturally, both cases should be a source of pride for all those who dedicate the best of themselves to tourism and, much more importantly in our opinion, demonstrate with total clarity the growing capabilities (and quality!) that Portugal has been acquiring in the area of R&D (Innovation and Development) which, as is commonly recognized, is currently one of the most important for the affirmation of any tourist destination.
