On World Tourism Day, we would like to talk about SMIITY, a mobile app developed by the Portuguese technology company mobinteg, has already allowed the transformation of several Portuguese municipalities including Óbidos, Ferreira do Alentejo, Ponte de Sor, Sabugal, Lousã, Elvas and Valongo.

SMIITY is a pioneering solution that goes beyond conventional tourist guides since it allows points of interest to communicate with their citizens and tourists through a Bluetooth connection to small signal emitters: the beacons.

When the user is in the proximity of a beacon, he will receive push notifications with unique content alluding to that location, that becomes the “narrator” of its own story.
