It is now possible to discover the Historical Villages of Portugal with your smartphone, thanks to the app developed by mobinteg. The app Historical Villages, available for Android and iOS, allows you to make an interactive and personalized visit to these historical points of our country.
The Historical Villages solution is a branded app that uses the SMIITY smart tourism ecosystem, developed by mobinteg. This way there is a specific and customized app for the entire network of Historical Villages of Portugal, which tells the story of the villages and their main points of interest, turning them into true smart destinations.
The app Historical Villages provides the citizen or tourist with news, events, walking
and points of interest throughout the network, in the language of the user’s smartphone, in 12 villages, spread over 10 municipalities: Almeida, Belmonte, Castelo Mendo, Castelo Novo, Castelo Rodrigo, Idanha-a-Velha, Linhares da Beira, Marialva, Monsanto, Piódão, Sortelha and Trancoso.
Like SMIITY, the app interacts with Beacons, small signal emitters that “communicate” with mobile devices via Bluetooth. When the user is near a beacon, he will receive push notifications with exclusive contents allusive to that place, being the “narrator” of his own story.
This application also has interactive maps, which group the points of interest by categories to facilitate research, such as Transport, Restaurants, Castles and Fortresses, Parks, Churches and Monasteries, Exhibitions, Archaeological Sites, Accommodation and much more.
This visualization can also be done through the augmented reality option, which allows you to identify the points of interest closest to you, by pointing the smartphone or tablet’s camera around you.
It should also be noted that the app Historical Villages also has a Visual Assistant that through the text-to-speech functionality transforms text content into audio, thus eliminating the use of additional equipment. A very inclusive tool, particularly for the visually impaired community.
